CHOI JUNGSUN

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER / EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Jungsun started his career at Samsung Corporation and subsequently moved to Woori Bank’s investment banking division, where he led the Shipping & Aviation Finance Team and provided the best follow-up control for assets worth over USD600 million with minimum losses during a global recession. He also initiated and implemented a new risk mitigating structure which led Woori Bank to the top of the Asian Ship Financing League Table. He later joined KDB Infrastructure Investments Asset Management Co. Ltd. (KIAMCO), the largest alternative investment asset management in Korea and was responsible for launching KIAMCO’s first logistics fund worth KRW120 billion. A co-founder of Cornerpiece Capital Partners, Jungsun has over 15 years of experience in asset management and investment banking. Jungsun holds an MBA from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, USA. He also has an MA in Real Estate, Finance and Investment from Konkuk University and B.A. in Economics from Korea University, South Korea.

THOMAS FORSTER

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Thomas started his career in private wealth management with Commerzbank Munich/ Germany more than 30 years ago. Fulfilling his dream to work and live in Asia, he moved to Singapore in 1994, to join Commerzbank (South East Asia) Ltd. as Relationship Manager Private Banking. In 2001, he joined Deutsche Bank Singapore Private Wealth Management as Director, Head of International Clients Team. While servicing international wealth management clients domiciled in Asia as well as Europe, Thomas was managing a team of Asian- and European relationship managers with total client assets of more than EUR 500million. In 2018, he joined Schroders Wealth Management (Singapore) as Director and Senior Relationship Manager. Thomas holds a Business Diploma from Edith Cowan University Australia, as well as an Advanced Wealth Management Certificate from the Wealth Management Institute of Singapore.

KAMAL KANAPATHY

DIRECTOR

Prior to Cornerpiece Capital Partners, Kamal spent 20 years in London where he advised and structured investments in asset classes in a diverse range of industries including film, music, TV, new media, information technology, pharmaceutical, retail and medical research. He was also previously a partner at Moores Waren Ltd., a firm regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK and a founding partner of Amar Jones Ltd., a firm that is regulated by the ACCA. He is also a co-founder of Conerpiece Capital Partners bringing extensive experience in bespoke investment structures. Kamal is a fellow member of the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), UK’s Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) as well as the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM). He is also a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS), awarded by The London Institute of Banking & Finance. CDCS which is recognised worldwide as a benchmark.

OJAS DOSHI

PRESIDENT, TRADE FINANCE

Ojas is a naturalised Singaporean who has lived in Singapore for over 40 years. Born in Mumbai, he is the 4th generation in a family of commodity traders. He brings with him over 20 years of working experience in the trading and maritime industry and holds a Master’s degree in Shipping, Trade & Finance from CASS Business School in London and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Relations from Warwick University. He has also completed an onsite course in Harvard Business School (Executive Education) in Leading Global Business. Ojas has worked in several international banks and trading houses in various capacities. His most recent role was as the Deputy CEO of an international trading house with a turnover of over US$2.5 bn. His trade finance expertise allowed him to raise in excess of US$1 bn funding for the company as well as having raised funding for vessel purchases. As a shipowner, Ojas owned and operated 4 bulk carrier supramax-size vessels. His time as a trader has allowed him to work and travel extensively throughout Asia and Africa and has a deep understanding of trading practices. This expertise has been recognized as he has provided expert services in International Arbitrations as well as being a regular guest lecturer at Singapore Management University. He is also a regular panelist and speaker at large trade, shipping, and trade finance conferences.

MAHEN KULASINGAM

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Mahendran spent the last 33 years as a career banker with HSBC Malaysia where he last served as Country Head of Trade Operations prior to joining us here at Cornerpiece Capital Partners. In his last role he managed a team of 145 staff across multiple sites all over Malaysia reporting under a regional and global matrix. He brings a wealth of experience with him that cuts across many areas such as Receivables Finance, Product Management, Business Development and Trade Compliance coupled with short stints in Hong Kong, London, Paris and Singapore. Leveraging his HSBC trade experience; Mahendran has been exposed to many industries and customer groups from SMEs, MNCs and International Corporates. Mahendran holds a PGD MBA (UK) and his core competencies are in the area of risk and compliance within the framework of FATCA, OFAC and AML.

ASHRAF MOHAMED

GROUP STRATEGY – CAPITAL MARKETS

Ashraf started his career in financial services in 1994 with HSBC in South Africa, managing both equity and fixed income funds for large South African institutions. This led him to manage one of the largest South African based Shariah funds growing it fourfold over a three-year period.
He ventured into property investments in 2012, listing an SA based REIT and being a founding director of Inospace, an SA property re-developer. He has continued to manage money for private individuals and helping Family Offices with their asset allocation. Currently he serves as a non-executive director of Castleview Property Fund and developing Capital Markets strategies for Cornerpiece.
